I can’t believe it either.  I missed a Currently post last month!  Well, here we go!

Warning, lots of fashion and beauty updates below…

CURRENT BOOK

I started reading a few books this month, but the only one that’s stuck has been When Food is Love.  It’s by the lovely Geneen Roth, and it’s speaking to me right now.

If you read the post I shared about the love class I took recently, you’ll know that there is a connection there.  I’ve been on quite the self-discovery path over the past two months.

CURRENT MUSIC

I’ll let you guess what the music of the month is… and if you know me at ALL, you know already that I’m OBSESSED with the new Kelly Clarkson album.  You guys, Meaning of Life came out late last week and it’s the only thing I’ve been listening to ever since.  If you haven’t downloaded it yet, it’s time.

Current faves: Don’t Your Pretend, Cruel, Didn’t I, Meaning of Life, and pretty much every single song on that damn thing.  Almost excited to work tomorrow so that I can listen all day long again.  Go buy it.

CURRENT BEDROOM RENOVATION + A REQUEST FOR HELP!

I finally received my bedroom furniture over the past few months, transforming my room from a place filled with big black furniture to a bright white, mid-century modern environment, with a ridiculously fabulous headboard.

Please excuse the fact that my bed’s not made here, because that’s just life.  I want to add a rug to the room, and I have no idea what kind to add.  Open to ideas!  I don’t want it to compete with the headboard.  Let me know if you’ve seen anything cute (and I’ll try to snap a better pic in the morning!)  xo

CURRENT NEW STATE VISIT

I marked off a new state this month.  I’ve visited most, aside from North Dakota, South Dakota, Alaska, Nebraska, and until two weeks ago, Connecticut!  Planning to mark off all on the list before 50 (which means I’ve got a ton of years left!)

Current Recipe Awesomeness

I announced my pick for the winner of the Jenny Craig Simple Inspirations Recipe Contest last week.  Did you guys see the post?  Click here for the details!

Here’s something in this recipe that is 100% genius:  The creator of this recipe, Jessica, blended roasted red pepper and hot sauce to make a super tasty sauce for that cauliflower.  Such a great idea… and one I’ll be using in the future.

Current Makeup Find ()

Since I’ve started working from home, I spend most days in yoga clothes and without a full face of makeup. I do like a little something so that at the end of the day, I can walk out the door without scaring the nice folks at Target.

This moisturizer is everything!  Loaded with SPF 40 and just enough color, it also offers a tremendous amount of moisture.

CURRENT BEAUTY FIND ()

I’d been wearing the same eye makeup for as long as I can remember.  During a moment of online retail therapy, I decided to order a new palette of eye shadows from Bare Minerals.  Maybe it was the shiny gold container, or those pretty, pretty colors… but I had to have it.

It’s official name is the Bare Minerals Ready Eyeshadow 8.0 – The Power Neutrals, if you’re looking to find it.  It’s perfect for everyday, and I’ve used every single color on the palette and even played around with a SMOKY eye.  Yep, it’s incredible…

CURRENT BEAUTY FIND ()

It’s been two months, and YES, I have three beauty finds….  with that, I found the most EPIC mascara.  If we flashback to my currently post back in November of last year, you might remember that I bought an imposter mascara that I fell in love with and I haven’t been able to find anything like it ever since.  Until now.

I’ve been using Thrive Causemetics’ Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara for the past few months and I AM IN LOVE with it.  Not only does it make your lashes incredibly long, but it also is the easiest to remove (literally with warm water).  The removal factor is important, because… amongst us girls, I have no idea what they use to make those other mascaras.  I CANNOT remove them.  Try this stuff, y’all.  Life changing.

CURRENT OCEAN SPOTTING

I’ve been EVERYWHERE this past two months.  Lots of work travel, and an unbelievable ten day vacation. During the past two months, I’ve seen the Atlantic and the Pacific in that order, and there’s nothing that brings me greater peace than being waterfront.  Well, maybe beach meditation… 🙂

CURRENT FAMILY PHOTO FASHION FIND

We did family pics on the beach during our trip to the beach.  Initially, my sister in law settled on white and khaki for the colors, but in a last minute change, she opted for navy blue.  Thankfully, the dress I had ordered came also in navy.  So I ordered it.  You guys, it’s from Amazon.  Who knew they had dresses?

A friend of mine shared that she bought this dress for her high school reunion, and it was so cute I had to give it a shot!  Super cute, here’s the link.

CURRENT TIME WITH FRIENDS

I had the pleasure of seeing some of my favorite ladies these past two months as well.  Seriously, September and October spoiled me.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY TO WEAR ORANGE

I just went to a conference where I wore orange every single day!  I’m a huge fan of the color, but I don’t usually wear it every single day.  With a massive heatwave coming into Southern California at the same time of our conference, I needed dresses and orange it was.

The left is H&M; the right is JCP.  True story: I had a lady stop me one night when I was wearing black and she told me she thought that I just wore orange all the time every day.  Awesome.

So long, August… you beautiful thing, you.

I had a blast in August.  Loved it.  Can’t wait to see what comes in September as the temps cool off a little.

CURRENT BOOK

I don’t think I read a darn thing last month.  Nope, just headlines, social media posts, and the mail…

In the month ahead, I’ve got my eyes on Liane Moriarty’s What Alice Forgot.  I tried to read this one a few months back and didn’t.

After reading Big Little Lies and loving it, I think it’s worth a second try.

CURRENT ECLIPSE VIEWING EXPERIENCE

Oh, the Eclipse.  I was planning on taking a quick lunch break, peeking at this celestial moment, and then going right back to my desk.  But then… I found an event that I thought would be the perfect way to enjoy the eclipe:  Yoga Under the Eclipse at Urban Sanctuary.

Not only did I have an opportunity to complete moon salutations under the eclipse with an amazing group of yogis, but I also met this incredible space.

The class was a series of grounding poses that took place outdoors, with plenty of breaks so we could peek at what was happening in the sky.  Denver was about 92% eclipsed… and I loved every minute of it.

CURRENT SONG

We’re all listening to Taylor Swift’s new song Look What You Made Me Do, right?  It’s a little angsty for where I’m at right now… but it’s catchy for sure!

Of note, this month is about Taylor… but next month is 150% dedicated to my girl Kelly Clarkson who has a new album coming out!!!

CURRENT WINE LOVE

You know, I love some rosé.  I found a site that does rosé home delivery…. of some of my favorite labels, including the appropriately named Summer Water!

Have you heard of Winc? Use this link to save $20 on your first order!  Easy peazy.  My wine rack is full for a while as I hold onto summer for dear life!

CURRENT DONUT SITUATION

Have you guys ever heard of Doughbar Doughnuts?  After seeing many of you post on Instagram that you were eating healthy donuts, I had to see what this was all about.  And, you guys… I was pleasantly surprised!  And, the donut (plain) has 150 calories and 11g of protein!

I ordered a variety four-pack so that I could try a few flavors, and they were so so good, the Reese’s flavor being my ultimate favorite!  And, who doesn’t enjoy decorating and eating donuts??? So fun!

Tip:  Follow the instructions in the box.  Heat up the donut and the frosting for the best flavor and experience.  I’ll be trying these again!

CURRENT RECIPE ON REPEAT

I shared this new recipe on Saturday, and I’ve made it twice all ready.  I cannot get enough of this beet salad, y’all.  If you’re a fan of beets, you’ve got to try it!

CURRENT DENVER RESTAURANT LOVE

Every once in a while, I have a chance to be hosted by a local restaurant to sample their menu.  This Friday night, Marisa from Uproot Kitchen and I were completely spoiled by Max’s Wine Dive – Denver.  With locations across Texas and in Denver, if you’re within proximity of a location, I’d highly recommend you stop by.

From pulled pork stuffed chile peppers to cracklin chicken to bananas foster bread pudding, it was an amazing night of food with special wine pairings for each.  Thanks, Max’s, for a beautiful evening!

CURRENT BLEISURE EVENT

Have you heard of this word?  Bleisure?  It’s when you combine business and leisure, specifically as it relates to travel.  Earlier in the month I had to make a quick trip to Baltimore to visit a colleague for a planning session, and it just so happens that the lovely Ashley from Balancing Today was still on maternity leave and available for lunch!  So so great to see her and to meet Baby Kinnick!

CURRENT OFFICE UPDATE

I’ve always thought my home office to be “done” from a home improvement perspective.  When my floor lamp started flickering last week, I knew an update was in order.  I went to Target – Nothing.  I went to Homegoods as well.  Here I found a potential lamp, but a tiny voice in my head told me to head to Scandanavian Designs.

With the store closing in ten minutes, I found this gem.  I really like it.  Adds some height to the room, which I like.  It’s a little bright, but smaller watt lightbulbs can fix that.  Ultimately, it’s nice to be able to see in the office in the evenings again.

CURRENT COOKING EXPERIMENT

You guys, I’m a little obsessed with pickling.  I’ve pickled onions, beets, and now I’ve pickled something a little weird.  Weird in a delicious kind of way.  Stay tuned, because these bad boys are coming to the blog soon…

Since we’re friends, I’m sure you won’t mind if I sneak a little June Currently post in…  on the 10th of July.  Whoops!

After closing out a KILLER quarter of sales, I now have time to share all that was happening along the way.  June was quite the month, for many reasons.  Here’s a few….

CURRENT BOOK

As predicted last month, I read the new Elin Hildebrand book that came out in June.  And, as is customary, I DEVOURED it.  Highly recommend this book… and anything by Elin, really.

CURRENT BOOK (IN PROGRESS, BUT NOT FINISHED)

I also started reading the 5-Second Rule this month after being wildly motivated by my dear friend Ruth.  The premise of the book is to stop procrastinating.  To start doing whatever you’re not doing 5 seconds after you think about it.  And, you guys… it works.

CURRENT INSTAGRAM SENSATION

Since I mentioned my friend Ruth, I’ve got to tell you about this AMAZING challenge she’s started documenting on Instagram.  She’s conducting a 92-day fear conquering challenges, by doing something that SCARES her every day this entire summer!  Follow her @92DayWarrior instagram account here.

CURRENT FLOWER OBSESSION

You guys, I’ve still found peonies over the past few weeks.  And, usually, they leave stores so quickly.  I’m obsessed and will keep buying them as long as I can find them!!

CURRENT OUTDOOR YOGA

I did outdoor yoga TWICE in June!  When I was in Temecula with Crystal, we went to a beautiful class with proceeds going to City of Hope in San Diego.

And, I caught a second class here in Denver with the lovely Marisa from Uproot Kitchen celebrating the Summer Solstice!

CURRENT HOME IMPROVEMENT EXCITEMENT

I’m in the middle of a MASSIVE home improvement project right now.  Painting every room in my house, and I’m loving the initial results (even if the pace is killing me softly.)  I’ll be posting soon the full story of the renovation.

CURRENT SPA DISCOVERY

My June travels took me to Temecula, California to visit with my dear friend Crystal.  While I’ve been there many times and we’ve visited the wineries a lot, we’ve never visited the South Coast Winery until this month’s trip.  You guys, the Grapeseed Spa at the winery is absolutely incredible.  If you’re ever in the area, you’ve got to check it out.

They offer you a glass of wine after your massage and lead you to a beautiful patio where you can lounge and soak in the property.  Completely massage drunk after my treatment, I sat out there for quite some time before rejoining my friends.  Of note, if you get a massage, see if Annabelle is available.  Quite possibly in my top two massages of all time!

CURRENT FASHION FIND

Do you guys ever shop on Modcloth?  Ever since I went to a Denver popup shop, I check them out every few months.  Found this ca-yute top last month and rocked it for a blogger event in Denver.   And, it’s on sale right now!  Click here for all the details.

CURRENT RESTAURANT OBSESSION

For the first time in forever, I went to a blogger event in Denver in June.  Invited by the lovely @MileHighandHungry, we checked out The Pig and the Sprout along with a large group of Denver foodies. The food was literally to die for. Their menu is built for the serious carnivore or the serious vegetarian.  Phenomenal bbq on one plate, and then the most amazing roasted cauliflower salad on another.  Seriously, check this place out, Denver peeps.

CURRENT RECIPE I CAN’T STOP MAKING

I’ve made my watermelon gazpacho recipe three times this summer, and I don’t show any signs of stopping.  It’s THAT good.  Recipe details here.

CURRENT CORRESPONDENCE

I got a 40.5 birthday card in the mail from my oldest and dearest friend… And when she says 5, she meant 5 months.  Because today is actually my half birthday! 🙂  Still, so sweet and thoughtful!

CURRENT SUNSET

As I mentioned last month, I’m spending a LOT more time on the patio these days after its makeover.  Nearly every night (assuming I’m home), I like to check out the sunset…  sharing a peek with y’all below.

Currently, I love that it’s a long weekend.  I love leisurely afternoons.  I love warm days that are not hot, and that the sun shines late into the evening.  There’s not much I don’t love about this weekend, so indulge me as I tell you what’s going on currently.

And, who doesn’t love Justin Timberlake introducing May.  Truly one of my most favorite memes out there, I love seeing the many versions of it pop up in late April/May…

CURRENT BOOK

I haven’t really read any new books this month, but I have downloaded two with great intentions.  I’ve got Wonder on my shelf to read.  I spotted the trailer for the new movie with Julia Roberts based upon the book, and I felt the need to read it first!

I also snagged Lena Dunham’s memoir as well, but Wonder is definitely next on my list.  Hoping to tackle it before the new Elin Hildebrand is released in June.

CURRENT CLOSET CLEANOUT

I am obsessed with Poshmark this month.  Cleaning out my closet has been long on my list, but I didn’t realize how much fun (and how easy!) it could be.  I’ll post more this week about how it works, because it’s such a cool app.

To take a peek at my closet, click here.  To sign up for yourself and get a $5 credit using code GEKPE, click here.

CURRENT REMAKE NIGHTMARE

I knew when I heard that Dirty Dancing was going to be remade that it was going to be something that I hate-watched.  I mean, I would have to watch it… because Dirty Dancing, but that didn’t mean I had to like it.  The question I have for network TV is:  Why mess with perfection?  It just doesn’t work.  Did you guys watch this?

CURRENT VEGETABLE STAPLE

Sugar snap peas… they’re incredible roasted.  Try it.

CURRENT INDULGENCE

Peonies.  White ones, pink ones… I can’t get enough of them.  Someone enlighten me as to why these are only around for like weeks a year.  They are purely lovely… and my absolute favorite.   Peonies, 2 Tulips.

CURRENT PAINT PICKING

I have paint chips all over my house and a strong desire to have a fresh coat of paint on these walls.  From the living room to the office to the bathroom, there’s little squares of Sherwin Williams everywhere.  Good news:  I believe I’ve finally made a decision!

CURRENT HOME IMPROVEMENT EXCITEMENT

I’m changing out a light fixture in my bathroom before I paint.  There’s something about a new fixture that really frames a room, and it’s time for those hollywood dressing room style lights to go.  Can’t wait to see what the new one looks like… it’s a little different, unique, and so very me.

The handyman comes this week, and I’ve got a few project ideas for him.  My plan is to keep him busy over the next few weeks.

CURRENT PATIO SITUATION

Right now, I’m doing something I’ve never really done since I’ve lived in my condo.  I’m sitting out on my patio.  Not only is the weather incredible (slightly cool, yet sunny and bright), it’s also quiet and comfortable and just lovely.

I have some string lights in my garage that I’m tempted to bring up tomorrow to hang.  I’ll wait until Father’s Day weekend to plant flowers (as is customary in Colorado)… and this place will be perfect.

CURRENT TRAVEL PLANS

I have two (maybe three) trips coming up FINALLY!  I’ve been home for almost two months now without and business or personal travel and I’m about to lose my mind!!!

This month, I’m off to San Diego to visit my dear friend Crystal, a quick trip to Chicago for work, and a potential trip to Las Vegas to celebrate a dear friend later in the month.  Get me outta here…

CURRENT FASHION FIND

Have you seen the Lou & Grey line at Loft?   You guys… it’s a little pricy, but touch the fabrics.  They’re like butter.  I bought a top today to try it out, and I’m already wishing I had bought two.  So, so cozy.

CURRENT WATER ACTIVITIES

Earlier in the month, I wrote about my floating experience at Samana Float Center.  And, I’m still floating!  Later today, I’ll float for the third time.

For me, there’s something incredible about floating before the work week gets started, stopping all the shoulds, and just “being” for 90 minutes.  Read all about my experience here.

CURRENT TV SHOWS

There are so many shows about LOVE right now.  Maybe it’s because we’re in-between a lot of the network shows’ seasons… but I’m loving the shows that are on right now.  Of course, Married at First Sight is at the top of my list.

This Chicago group has been really fun to watch.  I think Nate/Sheila have more staying power than I thought originally, and Ashley and Anthony seem pretty well matched.  I just can’t put my finger on what the heck is going on with the last couple, Cody and Danielle.  I’m rooting for them all though!

Other shows:  Bachelorette, Andy Cohen’s revival of Love Connection (did anyone else watch this as a kid?  I’ll be back in two-and-two…), and Drew Barrymore has a First Dates show.  I have yet to watch the Andy/Drew shows, but I have them queued up on my DVR.  A summer of love… I’m all for it!
